Exhibition Introduction:
Arab Health consists of three specialized trade shows: the Medical Equipment Exhibition, the Medical Laboratory Exhibition, and the Medical Congress. The “Arab World Medical Equipment Expo” is the largest, most comprehensive, and most influential global professional medical trade show in the Middle East. Since its inception in 1975, the exhibition has grown steadily in terms of planning, the number of participating exhibitors, and visitor attendance, earning a stellar reputation among hospitals and medical device distributors across Middle Eastern countries. The “Arab International Medical Equipment Exhibition” brings together nearly 5,000 exhibitors from over 100 countries, including around 50 national pavilions. This year’s expo attracted doctors, hospital administrators, and medical equipment and device distributors from various Middle Eastern countries, who came to visit, make purchases, and engage in business negotiations. The total number of visitors reached approximately 100,000. Among them were leading global medical device and equipment companies such as Siemens, Philips, Toshiba, General Electric, Kodak, Johnson & Johnson, STORZ, and 3M, all of which regularly participate in this exhibition. The expo utilized all nine halls of the Dubai World Trade Centre, with even the corridors lined with booths—a scene that was truly bustling and highly energetic. The United Arab Emirates is a wealthy oil-exporting country in the Middle East, with a per capita GDP reaching US$30,000. However, its economic structure remains relatively simple and heavily reliant on imports, especially medical devices and equipment, almost entirely dependent on foreign products. Moreover, Dubai pursues a free-trade policy; the Dubai government does not intervene in, restrict, or protect import and export activities, allowing goods to be freely imported, exported, and re-exported. The Dubai government imposes no restrictions on foreign exchange transactions, enabling free conversion and circulation of currencies. The tax rate for re-export trade is only 1%, and goods re-exported to other countries or regions within six months are eligible for tax exemption. As a result, Dubai has become the largest trade hub and distribution center for re-exported goods in the Middle East, boasting an exceptionally advantageous geographic location and a wide market reach. For these reasons, Dubai is often referred to as the "world's largest free zone" and dubbed the "Hong Kong of the Middle East."

Exhibition Introduction:
The HOSPITALAR Medical Equipment Exhibition in São Paulo, Brazil, is affiliated with the International Hospital Federation (IHF). In 2000, it was awarded the “Trusted Business Fair” designation by the U.S. Department of Commerce. It is the most authoritative medical supplies exhibition in Brazil and Latin America. In addition to the trade show itself, concurrent events include the Brazilian Dental Expo, a Technology Expo, a Pharmaceutical Expo, and an Expo for Rehabilitation Technologies for People with Disabilities. Brazil has abolished the requirement that all medical products must be procured through centralized purchasing. As a result, major public and private hospitals and clinics across Brazil have gradually begun to import the medical products they need directly from overseas. Due to government budget cuts for public hospitals, Brazilian buyers are being compelled to abandon expensive European and American brands and instead opt for lower-priced imported products. Consequently, the market for mid-quality, low-cost consumables will continue to grow steadily in Brazil. Brazil is South America’s brightest star, particularly in the healthcare sector, where it boasts unparalleled potential. It is estimated that the country will maintain a growth rate of 13% until 2015. HOSPITALAR represents the ideal opportunity for you to showcase cutting-edge technologies, establish business relationships, forge joint ventures, or solidify your position in the Brazilian and broader South American markets.

Exhibition Introduction:
NAIDEX NEC, an international trade show that has been held for 43 years, is the UK’s largest international healthcare and rehabilitation expo, hosted at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, a major industrial city in central England. It is also one of Europe’s most renowned medical and rehabilitation exhibitions today. Since 2003, NAIDEX NEC has been merged with Rehab & Care, which was originally held every November, drawing even more buyers of rehabilitation and healthcare products to the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. At the last exhibition, nearly 30 countries from around the world and 360 exhibitors participated. The exhibition space exceeded 8,100 square meters, and 12,000 professional medical buyers from 28 countries and regions came to seek business opportunities. Thanks to its geographic location and cultural characteristics, the UK has developed a unique sales market within Europe. If you’re looking to tap into the British market, this exhibition is absolutely unmissable. The UK is the world’s fifth-largest economy and one of the wealthiest, most economically developed, and highest-living-standard countries globally, holding a pivotal position in Europe. Among the world’s top 100 pharmaceutical companies, one out of every five conducts pharmaceutical research and development in the UK. Coupled with the region’s increasingly robust manufacturing technology sector, the UK has become a key global hub for pharmaceutical innovation. The UK’s biotechnology industry is the largest in Europe and ranks second globally, behind only the United States. The quality of its local biotech R&D centers rivals that of the U.S. and Japan, placing it among the world’s top-tier facilities. With over 435 biotech companies operating locally, the industry generates annual revenues exceeding £2.5 billion for the UK. The UK’s pharmaceutical industry employs approximately 73,000 people, and the total market value of the country’s pharmaceutical, biotech, and healthcare sectors exceeds £23 billion. Spending on R&D alone amounts to as much as £4.5 billion, involving roughly 400,000 professionals. As populations continue to age, advanced economies will see their healthcare spending as a percentage of GDP steadily rise. Consequently, to effectively manage fiscal deficits, governments in these advanced nations are likely to shift toward preventive care and early-stage monitoring, gradually reducing the massive healthcare expenditures associated with curative treatments.

Exhibition Introduction:
The Africa Health International Medical Equipment Exhibition, organized by the UK-based Informa Exhibitions Group to tap into the African market, was first held in 2011 and is now an annual event. It serves as an excellent platform for medical device manufacturers to introduce their products to the rapidly growing African healthcare market and expand their business presence in Africa. The exhibition also provides a crucial gathering place for professionals from hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, medical research institutions, retailers, and other stakeholders across Africa and around the world. The organizer of the Africa Health International Medical Equipment Exhibition is Informa, a globally renowned exhibition company based in the UK. Building on its 40-year experience hosting the Dubai Healthcare Exhibition, Informa launched this new medical event specifically targeting the African market in 2011. The Africa Health Exhibition will showcase the immense business opportunities available in the African healthcare market, offering a comprehensive and diversified professional platform. It is also an ideal opportunity for participating companies to display, promote, and enhance their corporate image and product offerings. As one of the BRICS countries, South Africa has a population of over 50 million but still lacks a fully developed healthcare system. Most medical devices and hospital equipment rely heavily on imports from abroad. In 2010, South Africa’s imports of medical devices and equipment increased by 30%, reaching approximately US$1.1 billion. Currently, China has become South Africa’s fourth-largest importer of medical devices. With a population of nearly 50 million, South Africa is classified as a middle-income developing country, with healthcare spending accounting for 9% of its GDP. The government’s guiding principle is to ensure that every citizen has access to health insurance. Under this principle, the healthcare sector has risen from third to first place in terms of government funding priority. In 2010, South Africa’s healthcare expenditure reached US$2.5 billion, with a compound annual growth rate of 9.7%. In 2010, South Africa continued to invest 60 billion rand (approximately US$8 billion) in infrastructure development and industrial restructuring. The medical equipment system comprises two main sectors: public and private. The public sector, which relies heavily on tendering processes for equipment procurement, is highly price-sensitive. By contrast, the private healthcare sector enjoys greater flexibility and accounts for 50% of total healthcare spending. There is a huge demand for disposable medical consumables, with the market share of these items standing at 4:6 compared to capital-intensive medical equipment.

Exhibition Introduction:
Bangladesh, with an annual growth rate of 12%, is promoting 15 new pharmaceutical projects. The country’s pharmaceutical industry is experiencing rapid growth and aspires to achieve self-sufficiency in the future. Bangladesh’s 300 pharmaceutical companies—ranging in size from large to small—cover 97% of the domestic pharmaceutical supply. Bangladesh’s pharmaceutical market is projected to reach RMB 14.95 billion by 2016. The pharmaceutical sector ranks second among Bangladesh’s government fiscal expenditures and is the largest employer of white-collar workers in the country. In Bangladesh, the pharmaceutical industry is the nation’s second-largest tax revenue source after the garment industry, and it is one of the fastest-growing sectors, playing a crucial role in Bangladesh’s economic landscape. Currently, Bangladesh has 237 pharmaceutical factories whose production capacity not only meets more than 97% of domestic demand but also exports medicines approved by the World Health Organization and UNICEF to 67 countries worldwide. According to experts, the market for over-the-counter drugs in Bangladesh accounts for approximately 30% of the total pharmaceutical market; however, this ratio varies significantly across regions. In the capital city of Dhaka, the share is only 10%–15%, whereas in rural areas, it rises as high as 50%. In recent years, driven by population growth and rising per capita disposable income, Bangladesh’s pharmaceutical market has been expanding rapidly. Bangladesh heavily relies on imports for pharmaceutical raw materials. The country has only 18 manufacturers of active pharmaceutical ingredients, whose production capacity can meet just 20% of domestic demand. To encourage the import of raw materials, the Bangladeshi government has not only been working hard to reduce import tariffs on pharmaceuticals but has also issued import licenses to all pharmaceutical manufacturers, allowing them to import from around the world. For various reasons, Bangladeshi pharmaceutical companies often choose to import bulk generic APIs from countries such as China and India, while importing certain high-tech APIs from the European Union that are unavailable in China or India. According to statistics from the World Health Organization, in 2006, per capita GDP expenditure on healthcare was $27 in India, accounting for 4.8% of per capita GDP, compared to $5,711 in the United States, representing 15.2% of per capita GDP. In Bangladesh, however, healthcare spending was only $14, making up just 3.4% of per capita GDP. As Bangladesh’s per capita disposable income continues to rise, its citizens’ spending on healthcare will also increase steadily, greatly boosting the development of the country’s pharmaceutical industry. This exhibition is the largest, most influential, and the only international-level trade show for pharmaceutical raw materials and medical devices held in Bangladesh. It enjoys strong support from the Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Industry Association and serves as an important platform for exchanging pharmaceutical information within Bangladesh and the surrounding region. Visitors are particularly interested in products such as pharmaceutical processing machinery, packaging equipment, API additives, and biotechnology control instruments. Other items, including medical consumables and medical furniture, also occupy a significant share. This exhibition provides exhibitors from various countries with an excellent platform for showcasing, selling products, and engaging in exchanges and interactions—a golden opportunity for Chinese enterprises to seize the moment and enter the Bangladeshi market.
Exhibit Scope:
Pharmaceutical Processing Machinery: Pharmaceutical processing machinery (for tablets/capsules/liquids/injections/ointments/dry syrups), packaging machinery and equipment, packaging materials, and API consumables; Pharmaceutical Raw Materials: Active pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients, finished pharmaceutical products, and laboratory reagents for formulation.
