The manufacturing process of pressure vessels can generally be divided into the following stages: raw material inspection, layout marking, cutting, rust removal, machining (including edge planing, etc.), rolling, assembly, welding (including weld test plates for the product), non-destructive testing, hole-marking, final inspection, heat treatment, pressure testing, and anti-corrosion treatment.

The selection of a welding procedure primarily depends on the material, grade, and chemical composition of the workpieces to be welded, as well as the structural type of the welded components and the specific requirements for weld performance. First, it is necessary to determine the appropriate welding method—such as manual arc welding, submerged arc welding, tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding, or gas-shielded metal arc welding, among many others. Given the wide variety of welding methods available, the choice must be made based on the specific circumstances. Once the welding method has been determined, the corresponding welding process parameters can then be established. These welding process parameters vary widely depending on the method used; for instance, in manual arc welding, the key parameters typically include: electrode model (or grade), electrode diameter, welding current, welding voltage, type of welding power source, polarity connection, number of welding passes, number of weld beads, and inspection methods, among others.
